Rise Of Conflict Engine Decision

We use ioquake3.

Why do you use ioquake3?

Our primary target is to attract many people and developers to an open source GPL based realistic engine. We want to add anything that realism can offer which can be useful for teamplay and doesnt destroy the balance, so we mostly resist on code, logic. Therefore we needed an engine with background, so DarkPlaces and Quake3Arena Engines were considered. After a long and harsh discussion ;) we finally think we go the next step to use ioquake3, even tho its a bit more coding, but its still a development platform, where someone who wants to work in gaming sector can support us. The second reason for concret ioquake are the MINIMUM requirements. We want to attract many people, allthought we want to have a bit quality. So we prefer an engine which is backward compatible and just need a 128MB GFX card (even tho it could be that we higher that a BIT for giving a BIT more quality with the huge maps, whatever that is another discussion). So we want to attract people from all countries over the world.... not just industrialized countries ;).

Please consult the General EngineOverview Study page for more information.

We'll also be developing on XReaL because of its handling and capability.
